So I laughingly wrote in as my request to be excused from serving that I was leaving the country on June 8 with the Peace Corps and would not be able to fulfill my civic duty as the transportation and commute would prove difficult. I hope they grant my request haha.
Just thought it was funny. I have received a handful of jury summons since turning 18 and have never been able to participate. The closest I ever got was the morning phone in to find out if my juror group was being called in.
For me the irony is that I am receiving this summons that is part of my civic duty, but I am unable to fulfill this because I have chosen another path for my civic participation-the Peace Corps. I don't know that anyone else will find this as humorous as me, but I thought I would share.
