Sunrise Sunset

So we are sitting in the airport in Istanbul, Turkey and we have internet so I wanted to jot down an epiphany I had while on the plane here.

It was about 5am (Moldova time-I have already switched over all my electronics) and I noticed light was coming through a few of the cracked windows so I opened my window (I had the window seat) and was greeted by my first European sunrise as we flew over the English Channel. It was a beautiful sight to behold. The dark purples and blues of night giving way to the warm yellows, oranges, and reds of morning. When I looked on the ground, the city lights made vein like shapes in clustered areas. While I was sitting there I realized on Monday when I left I was able to see my last Sacramento sunrise (at least for the next two years) and on the day I reach Moldova I am seeing my first of many European sunrises during the coming two years. I just sat there and smiled looking out the window watching the warm colors overtake the cooler ones and thinking, "How cool is this? I'm heading to a new country!" At that moment I fully realized that this is not just a quick trip as it has been feeling, this is for the long haul.

Back with more later.
